Dealer transfer FAQs
What is a dealer transfer?
A dealer transfer is the dealer-to-dealer movement of a firearm where another registered firearms dealer is involved in the customer journey. It does not remove the need for the correct firearm authority.
Can I buy from Recce NI and collect through another dealer?
Where the firearm and destination are eligible, yes. Tell us the receiving dealer and Recce NI will confirm the arrangements before dispatch.
Can another dealer send a firearm to Recce NI?
Potentially. Submit an inbound transfer request first so Recce NI can confirm that we can accept it and coordinate with the sending dealer.
Do I still need the correct firearm authority?
Yes. Using a firearms dealer does not by itself give the customer authority to possess or collect the firearm.
How much does a dealer transfer cost?
For an eligible Recce NI purchase, the current checkout transfer charge is £30.00. Other transfer routes are confirmed individually before they proceed.
When will Recce NI send the firearm?
Only after Recce NI has verified the receiving dealer and approved the transfer route. Dispatch timing depends on the transaction and required checks.
Can I use dealer transfer for a Customer Firearms purchase?
A Customer Firearms transaction may involve a dealer transfer where the transaction and customer circumstances support it. Recce NI confirms the correct route for the individual sale.
What’s the difference between a dealer transfer and one-on/one-off?
A dealer transfer describes moving a firearm between registered dealers as part of a customer transaction. One-on/one-off is a specific dealer-managed substitution or exchange route that only applies in qualifying circumstances.
